The son of our founder, Carl Jacobsen was very fond of classic art and during his life had put together a very fine collection.
Likewise his father he believed good things should be shared with the world, in his own words: “art must not only be the rich man’s possession.
It must be just as joyous for the common man so that he too can feel the power of its beauty.”
He established several trusts in support of art, opened his private collection to the public and eventually, in 1882, founded the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen.
To celebrate Carlsberg 170th anniversary we want to open its doors to everyone.
So even if you are not in Copenhagen you can explore the Glyptotek with drones and feel the power of art and beauty.
It all comes from beer.
