Frederiksborg Castle has always been a symbol of the Danish heritage.
So in 1859, when it burned down, the whole of Denmark was left in shock.
Carlsberg’s, J.C. Jacobsen, committed many years of his life and a large amount of the brewery’s profits to the reconstruction project and to establish a museum of National History in the castle premises.
Thereafter the Carlsberg Foundation has been financially committed to the museum and still today it supports the Castle through the brewery’s revenues.
It all comes from beer.
